Volunteer

CIS works closely with university interns, work-study students, and corporate and community volunteers to meet the needs of our students and their families. Last year more than 2,000 volunteers for Communities In Schools of Houston provided nearly 68,000 hours of service worth more than 1.4 million dollars to help keep kids in school.

Internship, volunteer and work-study opportunities are available at our campus sites and our central office. Internships are unpaid; however, students receive an invaluable work and learning experience and typically receive course credit. CIS has ongoing volunteer opportunities in many elementary, middle and high schools. All volunteer applicants must pass a background check before being placed at one of our sites.
